Full Recipe:

  • 500 grams of potatoes
  • Salt, to taste
  • 125 grams of flour, plus extra for dusting
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 eggs
  • 90 ml milk
  • 150 grams of cheese, cut into small cubes
  • Breadcrumbs, for coating

  • Chill the potato balls in the fridge for 30 minutes before coating to ensure the batter spreads easily.
  • For an extra crispy crust, double dip the potato balls in egg and then breadcrumbs.

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and cut the potatoes into small pieces. Boil in salted water until tender, then drain.
  2. Make the Potato Dough: While still hot, mash the potatoes. Add a pinch of salt, the flour, and mix well to form a dough.
  3. Prepare the Batter: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the milk. Gradually add 125 grams of flour, whisking until smooth.
  4. Form the Potato Balls: Grease your hands with vegetable oil. Take a spoonful of potato dough, press a cube of cheese into the center, and form into a ball. Repeat with the remaining dough and cheese.
  5. Coat the Potato Balls: Roll each ball in the batter, then in breadcrumbs for a crispy coating. For a thicker crust, dip again in the egg mixture and then in breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pan. Fry the potato balls, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Serve: Enjoy these cheesy potato balls hot, with your favorite dipping sauce or as a delicious side dish.
